History Weekend
ZgodoVikend/History Weekend is the largest event at the Park of Military History Pivka, traditionally held on the third weekend of September – this year on 18, 19 and 20 September 2026.
As an introduction to the diverse programmeof ZgodoVikend, the traditional Vestirnga 2026 will be organized on Friday, as part of which the Defense Administration will conduct an introduction for military conscripts of the generation of 2008, who will arrive on this occasion - just like generations in the past - on richly decorated draft wagons.
Saturday's events will begin with a hike to hill Primož with a thematic lecture in the former Italian underground fortress of the Alpine Wall there and a guided tour of the interior of the fortress. As part of the enriched program, visitors will be able to take part in various guided tours of the collections and exhibitions, while the youngest visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy various children's creative workshops. As part of the accompanying program, the Stanislav Požar Barracks will also host an open day, where visitors will experience what it's like to ride a tank and what life is like in the military uniform of the Slovenian Army.
The Sunday museum experience will be enriched by numerous expert guided tours of various permanent and temporary museum exhibitions, which will allow participants to gain a deeper insight into the content and background of individual exhibits and collections. In cooperation with partner museums, a diverse range of workshops and animations will also be organized on this day, during which selected historical chapters will be presented to the youngest visitors in an educational and entertaining way. The programme will be enriched by film screenings, a mini fair of military history literature, an exhibition of vintage vehicles, as weell as static and dynamic presentation by the Slovenian Armed Forces, Civil Protection, fire brigades, and the Police.
One of the main highlights of ZgodoVikend will be the Sunday demonstration drives of vehicles from the operational collection of the Slovenian Army and the Park of Military History.
