THE DISCOVERY OF THE POSTOJNA CAVE TRANSFORMED POSTOJNA INTO A TOWN
What happens to a place where people discover a miracle? This guided themed tour of the town of Postojna unveils the dramatic consequences of the discovery of the majestic underground cave for the settlement of Postojna.
On this guided 2.5-hour tour of the town of Postojna, you will explore the picturesque town trail and discover the rich cultural heritage of the town and its special features. Accompanied by an experienced local tour guide, you will walk along the town trail and will be taken to the time of Austria-Hungary, when Postojna obtained city rights in 1909. During this time, Postojna and its Postojna Cave were put on the world map and the town started acquiring its present appearance with the construction of new infrastructure and its first majestic buildings. We will also visit a proper historical salon, where a legendary barber still wielded his blade not long ago… An interesting and educational walk can be concluded in the Guštarna Wine Shop with a tasting of wines and local delicacies.
