Bear watching in the forests of Notranjska

Safely approach a bear.

Choose an unusual trip which takes a little bit of courage, but rewards you with an incredible experience. Follow the trails of the brown bear.

The vast forests of Notranjska under Mt. Snežnik in the south of Slovenia are home to many free-roaming animals, including wild beasts. In the company of a professional guide, you can respectfully enter the habitat of the brown bear, the largest European wild beast.

You will be following the trail of the brown bear in the evening hours. Silently and stealthily, you will climb one of the bear watching towers and, with a bit of luck, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the largest European wild beast and admire it undisturbed. Together with the experienced local guide and hunter, you will search for signs of the presence of the brown bear and will be learning about its natural environment and man's coexistence with the beast. You will need appropriate clothing and footwear in order to embark on this adventure and you should not wear any kind of perfume or other scented products.

The programme includes:

  • Preparation of guests for the watching tour and a presentation of man's coexistence with the brown bear
  • Transfer and guided walk to the bear watching tower
  • Watching and photographing the bear from the high lookout tower
  • Professional guidance throughout the tour
  • Insurance
