St. Lovrenc, 1019 m

The peak of St. Lovrenc above Studeno near Postojna is adorned by a church visible from afar. When the mist surrounds the summit, many people reach for their camera. The church scene becomes an image from a fairy tale! When the valley is covered in the mist, you often have a clear view of the surrounding hills.

The church at the top is one of the oldest in the area. It was a refuge and lookout point during the Turkish invasions, but today it is a popular destination for hikers. From the top you can see Snežnik, Slivnica, Javorniki, Vremščica and part of Nanos.

 The well-maintained paths and the reasonable length of the trails make Sv. Lovrenc an excellent choice for a family outing.

Recommendations for access

  • The most common starting point is the village of Studeno near Postojna (approx. 1.5 hours).
  • Sv. Lovrenc is also interesting for mountain bikers: access is possible via dirt trails from Postojna and Studeno, but the most popular is the MTB circular route, which combines trails around Postojna with an ascent to the top.
