Notranjska Regional Park

In a mystical land of intermittent lakes and other karst features, colourful meadows, mighty forests, mountain peaks and a mysterious underground world await you. The heart of the park is Lake Cerknica – the largest intermittent lake in Europe.

There are more than 400 karst features in the 222ha of protected areas of the park! It is the habitat of three large carnivores – bear, wolf and lynx – as well as rare birds, plants and endemic species. The cultural landscape has been shaped by centuries of coexistence of people and nature, reflected in the built heritage, archaeological finds, traditional crafts and the way of life of the locals.

Notranjska Regional Park is the ideal choice for an active holiday. It offers endless possibilities for hiking, cycling, boating and first guided cave-exploring experiences.
