One of the most beautiful water caves in the world is certainly Križna Cave – a unique underground world with 22 emerald lakes connected by a crystal-clear stream. Ancient cave bear bones are hidden in side passages. In terms of the number of species of cave animals, Križna Cave is even regarded as on of the the richest caves in the world.
With more than 8 km of explored passages, it is one of the longest caves in Slovenia. As you embark on an unforgettable journey through this remarkable underground world, be prepared to walk along paths once used by bears and enjoy a boat ride across underground lakes reaching depths of up to 7 metres.
Types of guided tours
Short tour with a boat ride across the first lake (1–1 hr 15 min)
Short tour with a boat ride across the first lake and to the Bear Passage (1.5–2 hrs)
Water section tour to Calvary (3.5–4 hrs)*
Water section tour to Crystal Mountain (6.5–7 hrs)*
The cave maintains a constant temperature of 8°C, so dress warmly. All tours are available only with a guide.
* Recommended equipment (for Tours 3 and 4): three pairs of warm socks, long trousers, a warm long-sleeved shirt and two warm sweaters. No other clothing is necessary, as you will receive a protective caving suit and rubber boots before entering the cave.
