Križna Cave
One of the most beautiful water caves in the world is certainly Križna Cave – a unique underground world with 22 emerald lakes connected by a crystal-clear stream. Ancient cave bear bones are hidden in side passages. In terms of the number of species of cave animals, Križna Cave is even regarded as on of the the richest caves in the world.
With more than 8 kilometres of explored tunnels, it is the seventh longest cave system in Slovenia. When you set out on an unforgettable exploration of this extraordinary world, be prepared to walk along paths used by bears and take a boat ride on underground lakes up to 7 metres deep.
Types of tour
1. Short tour with a ride on the first lake (1–1.15h)
2. Tour of the water part to Kalvarija (3.5–4h)*
3. Tour of the water part to Kristalna gora (6.5–7h)*
4. Short tour with a ride on the 1st lake and Medvedji rov (1.5–2h)
It is always 8 degrees Celsius in the cave, so dress accordingly.
* Recommendation (for tour 2 and 3): 3 pairs of warm socks, long trousers, a warm long-sleeved shirt, 2 warm sweaters; no other clothing is needed – you will receive a protective caving suit and boots before entering the cave, which you can only visit with a guide.
