A Culinary Story at the Luisenstein
At the Luisinstein, just a short walk from Snežnik Castle, a picture-perfect setting awaits: the elegant white castle, the forests of Snežnik, the gentle sound of flowing water and the tranquillity of the surroundings. Here, history, nature and local flavours come together in a truly memorable culinary experience.
Local guide Nataša Mele, together with local heritage experts, welcomes guests to a beautifully laid table in the open air. As you sample regional specialities, you’ll hear stories of the last princely family of Schönburg-Waldenburg, Princess Luise, life at the castle, hunting banquets, the tradition of dormouse hunting, and everyday life in the Snežnik forests. This culinary experience is thus not merely a tasting of local delicacies, but an encounter with a time when the castle, the park and the surrounding nature were simply the family’s home.
The table is laden with the flavours of the Loška Valley: homemade cured meats, cheeses from nearby farms, bread baked in a traditional bread oven, forest honey, homemade preserves, herb spreads, fresh eggs, homemade fruit juices and seasonal fruit. Through stories, flavours and the unique atmosphere of this remarkable place, you’ll discover Snežnik Castle from a fresh and unforgettable perspective.
